I am rediscovering my love for cooking and one of the simplest meals to make – be it for breakfast or a mid-afternoon break is avocado toast. Packed with amazing nutrients and healthy fats, avocados should be incorporated into your diet as soon as possible.
Easing into the new year – an improved fitness schedule, and a healthy daily dose of goodness into the body – is what I am doing. One of the things that I have incorporated, especially after a workout is avocado toast with egg or a pinch of salt and crushed dried pepper. I find it super filling and keeps me off my cravings for a good 3 – 4 hours. An added treat is that I have it on whole grain bread which has about 100 calories but totally worth it.
I have been known to order avocado toast at brunch, but seeing as I can buy them at the store, and a loaf of bread for a fraction of the price I would pay at the restaurant, I decided that I would make this expensive treat into a foodie experience after my workouts, as opposed to a brunch special. And the fact that I can also use avocado in pretty much anything – salads, smoothies ..etc., the options are endless when it comes to including it into meals.
Some key benefits of incorporating avocados into your diet are:
- Good source of monosaturated fat, which can reduce your risk of heart disease.
- The potassium helps regulate blood pressure.
- The folic acid helps prevent and ease the symptoms of irritability, depression, and fatigue.
So, if you are looking for some goodness to add into your diet this January, introducing avocado into your regular grocery list as well as your diet, will help you so much.
Tell me, how do you like to eat avocados?
