I think it goes without saying that “first impressions count” for all the things.
All the things that include a callback, a new client booking out, the next date. It is so important to me that you put your best foot forward, whether it is getting ready for an interview, a lunch date with your girlfriend or mom, or a hot date with that special someone. Putting yourself together shows that you value their time because you took care of how you put yourself together, but you also took the reason for your meeting into consideration as well. You never want to disregard the time people choose to make for you and spend with you, so it is key to always make sure that you do it right and put your best self forward.
At a recent media event for The Keg Steakhouse and Bar cocktail hour summer launch party at their Yaletown location, I was the date of the lovely Tasha of The Open Journal. My girl knows that I love to look good and make a statement, so being her date for this event was no exception to this rule of mine. I paired this Zara faux leather olive skirt, with a black Halston Heritage bodysuit, my Billie-Jean jacket, and black Aldo velvet pumps. The textures of the materials, as well as the touch of velvet, added a hint of sexy to this cute sleek look. For me, my love for color is where the focus is, so where ever I go, I definitely make sure to include a statement color because I want that first meeting to be memorable. I also know that when I wear color, I feel good, and look good because I have put myself together well. Depending on the occasion, I dress accordingly but I make sure to incorporate color into that first impression because it is a reflection of my personality. I always tell people, especially when you are in a social setting, people might not remember your name, but they always remember what your first impression was and how they felt when they spoke to you – and what you put together to wear says A LOT about you because it is a reflection of your personality and what you are like as a person.
It’s always important to feel good and most importantly, make a great first impression – whatever the occasion. So, put your best foot forward, because you just never know what opportunity and then some, that will come out of that first conversation.
What is your first impression go to must have? Is it a white shirt? A bold lip? What does your first impression look say about you?
