Where: Rogers Arena
When: August 22, 2015
This show though …*sigh*.
It was on. Then it was postponed. Then Paper Rain Performances (the company putting not the show) declared bankruptcy. Then it was cancelled. DEVASTATED. Then it was back on … but only for those who had purchased VIP tickets *smh…what?!* Then Jon Bon Jovi saved the day because integrity matters and the concert was back on in partnership with Rogers Area and Tourism Vancouver!!! There was no way he could let Vancouver down. After all, Bon Jovi did record their hit album Slippery When Wet in ’86.
While it would have been nice to have been outside in Stanley Park and having the #BeautifulBritishColumbia as the backdrop for this glorious event, the fact that the show went on was all I cared about! So as it happened, and it would really only ever happen to me, I ended up with 2 shows – BACK 2 BACK!! My evening with Jon Bon Jovi who was on my bucket list but now crossed out, and the lovely Miguel! What are the chances??!! But, despite this double conundrum, both shows had to go on and I would be damned if I missed either [yes my coin was a sunk cost but listen!!! I take how I spend my coin very seriously and live shows are a priority sometimes!] But alas, my first show and ultimate must-see was on at 8PM SHARP! (be there or be left out), and Miguel was on at 10PM. Both venues close enough to walk that once Jon Bon Jovi called it a night, I dashed to the next venue for my 2nd show. Thank you Vancouver for being so easy to navigate and having everything within walking distance! 🙂 And most importantly, thank you artists for going on at your scheduled time!
Jon Bon Jovi & The Kings of Suburbia were amazing! I mean … Jon is a beautiful man and so is his music Bon Jovi’s music! Bon Jovi collectively as a group are just amazing and one of those bands that you need to see at least once, like U2. And while U2 was just a tick off the list, Jon Bon Jovi (Bon Jovi) was a top bucket list item that I am glad to have crossed off my list in my 25 years on existence this summer. The set list was impeccable with of course Bon Jovi’s most famous hits, Living On Prayer, Bad Medicine, You Give Love A Bad Name and of course, my anthem, It’s My Life. Being in the arena while they played my jam just filled me up with so much happiness that I couldn’t help but sing at the top of my lungs in pure bliss! Jon did his famous hand/arm thing which I know you know if you are a Bon Jovi fan! lol.  [Right now you are probably wondering, how come she hasn’t mentioned any friends? Well, I went #solo my friends, as not many people wanted to go. So, when it came down to the wire, I wasn’t going to miss out on a great show because I couldn’t go with people. As it turned out, I met some fun-loving ladies who I ended up swapping numbers with and singing along with as part of a quartet like our meeting had been pre-destined!] After both shows, some libations and good girl chat is always a plus while enjoying some beats at The Opus Bar! #Summer2015
To say that I had a great time is an understatement. This summer [show after show] has just been #beautiful! I’m sure you have that one show that you want to see come hell or high water. Who is it and why?
Peep the must-see video of me singing along to my anthem! My seats were amazing but given that it was first come, first serve after the show was put back on, I do apologize for the video quality.
