Have you ever wondered what your personality says about you? I’m sure you know that you are either and extrovert or an introvert. Or that you are logical versus someone who feels then acts. So many characteristics that comprise who you are and yes, only 4 (four) letters define you in the world of science. Granted, science is always evolving so one’s letters don’t necessarily mean it’s set in stone. They just define your dominant characteristics at a given time. I recently took the Meyers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) test and I can’t say I was truly surprised by the results. For anyone who knows me, or has been getting to know me through this creative outlet, what you will read will not surprise you as such … or maybe it will. I wasn’t surprised because what the test told me, my Mom already knew. The woman who carried me for nine months – who happens to also be a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) – tells me all the time, that she knows me because she carried me. That bond between mother and child – so special.
While my test was administered through a certified practitioner, I found that the results I received and the ones I linked above are one and the same. You are an emotional person – very empathetic. You like to look at all options before making a decision. You have a positive outlook on life – optimistic. You are passionate. All these things summed up in a 15 minute – 93 question test. Science. However, I do have to say that while the test is used by millions, there are some who don’t find any value and I can appreciate both sides of the argument – pros and cons. One’s letters can change slightly so while I am an ENFP now, I may not always be an ENFP kinda woman! In a recent article published by Huffington Post, the MBTI test was discredited for its validity and usefulness in determining one’s personality. Very interesting read! BUT … It is still being used so it obviously does provide useful tidbits!
As I mentioned, my results did not come as a surprise to me because I have, over the years, taken time to “find myself” and basically, connect with myself. Taking the time is always necessary to find out about the SELF you project and the person you want people to know. The real you. You can read all about my personality and if in doubt, you can always ask me! I’m the girl with the afro; the girl staring out the window aimlessly; the girl looking out into the abyss of the ocean; the girl in pink, burgundy and red lipstick; and the girl with the pretty smile. All the images I chose are just moments captured by a lens that show snippets of my personality.
Take the test and find out more about yourself! I want to hear what it says about your personality so share your letters!
