In honour of Manchester United, I decided that I would add a touch of red to my outfit and hopefully bring them luck! As a young one, my brother was obsessed with soccer and as a household and all the way into adulthood we would be subjected through many hours of “footie”. As a result of watching, I got acquainted with some of the players – the likes of David Beckham and Wayne Rooney – who to this day, still play for Manchester United in my head (despite the fact that I know they don’t) – but still. Anyway, in honour of the match, which I watched with a friend, I got decked out in red and rooted for the only team I have known … somewhat well.
After the match, we decided that since the sun was out to play, we would sit on a stoop by the Vancouver Art Gallery and catch up. With the city as the backdrop, we were not short for scenic views, people-watching and endless conversation. Comfort while also maintaining my sense of style was just as important on game day as on any other day!Keeping my look clean, with a pop of colour, I decided on wearing ripped jeans (which were a pair of jeans I bought and took a pair of scissors to myself), a white button-up, red Converse, a leopard-print scarf and my signature red leather. Vancouver can get warm but seeing as the weather always changes (four seasons in a day), a light jacket is always needed on stand-by. As it turned out, the rain replaced the sun and that jacket came in handy!
Do you sometimes where the colour of the team you are rooting for on game day? I don’t have a jersey so my closet keeps things interesting.
